USER GENERATED CONTENT V.S. TRADITIONAL MEDIA

ORIGINAL:)

The user generated content I decided to view was SpongeBob and Patrick’s “Barbie Girl”. This video was effective in being humorous and entertaining. The portion of the video that was least effective was when it appeared that SpongeBob was singing his lip synchronization was off. This is not an example of traditional media productions because SpongeBob, a man, is singing about being a Barbie Girl, to Patrick who is portrayed as his Ken. I doubt traditional media is ready to broadcast the promotion of gay/bi/ transgendered lifestyles so this will remain a UGC Video.

  1. "The portion of the video that was least effective was when it appeared that SpongeBob was singing his lip synchronization was off."

It's interesting how we are becoming more and more aware of video editing techniques. Perhaps it is our responsibility to be critiques of that skill. One day, I think how one edits UGC might be akin to how one writes or spells. (Do we judge people who can't spell or construct grammatically correct sentences?)

What else can you say about the two videos? Do you see a relationship between the two? (I do!)

    Thanks for a great post!
