Creating in Web 2.0? [101.13]

In the world of user-generated content, each one of us is capable of becoming an overnight sensation. As we observe, discuss, and analyze Web 2.0, we will start to unravel what it means to live in Web 2.0. But mostly—as this is above all a writing course—from the first day of class, we will compose an exploration of the many forms and types of media that make up our daily experiences. In doing so, we will compose a living record of the what it means to create and compose in Web 2.0.

What is Web 2.0?

Why do we tend to turn to Wikipedia for answers? I think the reason why we turn to Wikipedia for answers is because of Web 2.0. Currently, we all possess the ability to create and share our content with the world precisely because of platforms such as Wikipedia (and Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Jing, etc.). So where better to go for a definition of Web 2.0 than Wikipedia?

What are the advantages of having access to a tool such as Wikipedia? What are the limitations of the great Wikipedia?

Better yet, what is the internet?
